I’ve spent the last decade
investing in my personal growth.
Not because it’s trendy, but because it has up-leveled and continues to up-level my professional confidence and career in a massive way.

Today, I have a beautiful business as a Soulful Career Coach, and recently transitioned out of a heavy-hitting role at Vevo where I empowered my colleagues to lead with soul and amplify their impact.
Dreams? They do come true, Honey.
But I wouldn’t have reached this level of success doing what I adore, leveraging my gifts, and loving every minute, if it weren’t for my deep devotion to getting out of my own way.
And let me tell you, I was IN my own way for many, many years.
At the start of my career, my inner dialogue was hateful. Since I so badly wanted to be liked and be perfect at work, I bent over backwards and then some to be the best employee.

And all that bending made me forget how capable I actually was.
While I had big ambitions and a tenacity that couldn’t be quieted, I struggled for years at every single job. Coming up against condescending bosses and feeling like no matter how hard I pushed myself, my best wasn’t good enough.
From ad agencies to publishing, I chased approval from superiors, tried to fix my body, and wished my career didn’t feel like such a battle.
Why is this so hard?
At first, I blamed my circumstances, my bosses, my colleagues. It had to be their fault, not mine, right? But after multiple jobs presented the same issues, I finally started to realize the common denominator was… me.
In truth, the friction and frustration I felt had very little to do with the company, the people, the job, and everything to do with my inner belief systems and relationship with myself.

By facing my emotions, my oldest wounds, and my biggest insecurities head on, I was able to repair the broken connection I had with my own inner wisdom, my truth, my soul. Let me tell you, it took a whole lotta work.

Rinse and repeat.
All of it gave me space to hear myself and my truth. And as I sat in the quiet and listened to my intuition, I was finally present enough to understand my own power.
I realized that pushing and forcing my way forward wasn’t the answer. I needed to love and appreciate who I really was. Be kind to her. Hear her out. And that power I’d been giving away flowed right back into my being.
In shifting my relationship with myself, I was able to shift how I showed up at work—to not see every challenge as a bad thing I need to be defensive about, but as an opportunity.
So, how did all of this impact my career?

Getting clear about who I needed to be to have what I wanted without sacrificing my integrity is the very thing that helped me manifest two incredible jobs.
(1) As a Sales Account Executive at Rolling Stone Magazine
(2) As a Senior Account Executive and Sales Coach at Vevo (a role I invented)
And then? Turning my side hustle into my full-time business within 6 months during a global pandemic.
Leading with soul has been my saving grace and the key to making that multiple 6-figure income so many of us aim for. But what most people don’t know is that you can be soulful and successful, Honey.
